Backup Administrator

Overview Of the Role

We are looking to hire a full-time Backup Administrator. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data backup and recovery solutions to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of critical organizational data. This role involves developing backup strategies, managing backup infrastructure, and implementing disaster recovery plans.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Implement and manage backup solutions for critical data and systems.
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures.
  • Monitor backup jobs, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to backup and recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to optimize backup strategies based on business needs.
  • Manage and administer Office 365 applications and services.
  • Configure and maintain Office 365 services like Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Develop and enforce MDM and MAM policies to safeguard data and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Office 365-related issues.
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Backup Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies based on business requirements.
  • Design and document backup policies and procedures.
  • Backup Infrastructure Management:
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain backup systems and software.
  • Monitor backup performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure data integrity.
  • Data Restoration and Recovery:
  • Perform data restores and recovery activities in a timely manner.
  • Test and validate backup and recovery processes regularly.
  • Backup Policy Enforcement:
  • Enforce backup policies and retention schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organizational policies.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning:
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical systems and data.
  • Conduct regular testing of disaster recovery procedures.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Implement security measures to protect backup infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and data protection regulations.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Monitor backup jobs and generate regular reports on backup status.
  • Implement proactive measures to address potential backup issues.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other IT teams to integrate backup solutions with overall IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Capacity Planning:
  • Assess and plan for storage capacity requirements.
  • Optimize backup infrastructure for efficiency and scalability.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of backup configurations and processes.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Al least 3 years’ experience
  • Proven experience in backup administration roles.
  • Proficient with backup technologies and tools (e.g., Veritas Veeam, Commvault).
  • Strong understanding of storage systems and data protection best practices.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Proven experience as a System Engineer or similar role.
  • Excellent knowledge of different backup types and methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and security best practices.
  • Experience with system monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Linux Certified are required.
