Delegation of The University of Vienna Medical University visits NUB to implement partnership in the field of medical education

Dr. Hossam Al-Malahi, President of  NUB and NUB professsors, hosted an educational delegation from the Vienna Medical University on Friday and Saturday, September 13 and 14, 2019, and the delegation of VIENNA Medical University included Dr. Med. Andjela Baewert, Director of the Center for Skills and evaluation -Vienna Medical University, and Dr. Angelika Hofhansl, MME Director, Curriculum and Teaching Centre, Vienna Medical University, Alexandra Rathkolb, MSc,MBA Consultant, Department of International Relations, Vienna Medical University, Prof.Dr.Richard Marz, Consultant Medical Education, Vienna Medical University.

The delegation of the University of Vienna Medical University participated in the implementation of two workshops on Friday and Saturday in the presence of faculty members of the Faculties of Medicine and Oral medicine and Dentistry at NUB, where the first workshop dealt with: methods of evaluation in medical education, and dealt with the second workshop: the use of modern methods of teaching in the field of medical education.

On Saturday, on the sidelines of the initial workshop, he witnessed an introductory meeting for new students in the Faculties of Medicine and Oral medicine to explain everything related to the faculty study system.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Jamal, Dean of Dentistry, welcomed the new students, stressing the importance of cooperation with The Vienna Medical University as the oldest medical university in Europe and ranked 49th in the world.

Dr. Tarek Saeed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, NUB delivered a speech welcoming the guests and new students, stressing that a modern curriculum prepared in cooperation with the Vienna Medical University will be implemented under the partnership agreement signed between NUB and the University of Vienna and explained that the duration of study at the college will be five years followed by two years of training. Compulsory, with the medical study to be in the approved points system, and the curriculum will adopt a strategy of vertical and horizontal dealing, and students will train in clinical skills starting from the first year in a gradual manner that increases in the final years of study so that the student can combine basic sciences and clinical uses.

In his speech, Dr. Hossam Al-Malahi, President of NUB, welcomed the new students of the Faculties of Medicine and Oral and dental medicine and wished them years of outstanding study in cooperation with a prestigious university such as the Vienna Medical University to graduate outstanding batches.

For his part, Eng. Mohammed Al Rashidi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NUB, said that the university always seeks to provide all the material and human possibilities for its new students to receive all aspects of attention, and stressed the importance of practical training to create a new generation capable of competition and excellence in the labor market.

At the end, NUB honored the delegation of the Vienna Medical University by giving the university’s shield to each of them.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Hossam Al-Malahi, President of NUB, has already announced the ministerial decision of Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. 3310 for 2019, which includes the approval of the start of study at The Faculty of Medicine of NUB starting in the academic year 2019 / 2020.

Last December, the University signed a partnership agreement with the Vienna Medical University in the fields of development, construction, scientific research and curriculum, on the sidelines of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s recent visit to Austria, where the Vienna Medical University oversees the curriculum, the evaluation process, examinations, student training and the exchange of faculty members. The University of Vienna medical university is one of the oldest universities in Europe and dates back to 1365 and has a medical experience spanning 750 years and was ranked in 2016 in the 15th place at the level of European universities and in the 49th place at the level of universities in the world, among its most prominent graduates the famous psychologist Sigmund Freud and the famous physicist Erwin Schrodinger.
