The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department at Nahda University announces a job opening for the position of Computer Lab Specialist.

Computer Lab Specialist

Job Objective

Responsible for managing and operating computer laboratories, ensuring their technical and operational sustainability, and providing direct technical support to faculty members and students during lectures and practical sessions to ensure a secure and reliable learning environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Lab Infrastructure & Maintenance

● Prepare and set up computer hardware, installing approved simulation software and academic applications according to course requirements.

● Perform rapid deployment and imaging (OS Deployment & Imaging) and system restoration to ensure operational continuity.

● Monitor routine hardware and peripheral maintenance, carrying out initial troubleshooting and repairs.

2. Lab Network & Cybersecurity

● Configure and segment local lab networks (VLANs, Subnets, DNS, Network Shares) to isolate and secure laboratory environments.

● Apply security policies (Group Policies) to restrict unauthorized privileges, protect endpoints against malware, and regularly update antivirus definitions.

● Manage user access rights and authentication through directory services (Active Directory / Directory Services).

3. Academic & Operational Support

● Provide immediate on-site technical support for students and faculty during practical and laboratory sessions.

● Manage and track technical incidents via a Helpdesk/Ticketing system, resolving issues within defined Service Level Agreements (SLA).

● Oversee the physical integrity of lab infrastructure (cables, network switches, display

devices) and safeguard laboratory assets.

Qualifications & Technical Requirements

Criteria Required Qualifications & Skills

Educational Qualification Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or an equivalent field.

Work Experience 1 to 3 years of experience in technical support, lab management, or network administration.

OS & Networking Deep understanding of Windows Client/Server systems, Active Directory management, and network configurations (VLANs, Subnets, DNS).

Cybersecurity &

Redundancy Strong familiarity with access control management, endpoint security, and data backup and recovery protocols.

Service Management Hands-on experience with Ticketing Systems and Remote Desktop Management tools.

Age Limit Not exceeding 27 years (in accordance with internal ICT policy).

Soft Skills

● Strong troubleshooting capabilities under pressure and effective communication skills with students and academic staff.

● High organizational skills with the ability to maintain and audit IT assets continuously.
