The eleventh conference of the African Organization for Accounting and Finance hosted by Al-Nahda University in the presence of the Ministers of Higher Education and Finance

On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, Dr. Ayman Ashour – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Mohamed Maait – Minister of Finance attended the opening of the activities of the eleventh conference of the African Organization for Accounting and Finance AAFA, Which will be hosted by Al-Nahda University from 6-8 September, In the presence of Dr. Marian Rose – President of the Organization, Prof. Hossam El-Mallahi – President of Al-Nahda University, Eng. Mohamed Al-Rashidi – Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Magdy Abdel-Qader – Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and with the participation of researchers from a number of African and European countries.

On its first day, the conference included the Young Researchers Forum for 2022, which was held at the faculty of Business Administration at Al-Nahda University, Which aims to organize a meeting for emerging researchers (PhD and master’s students) to present their work in progress and receive feedback from elite researchers in their field and communicate with their counterparts as well as the rest of the participating delegations.

For his part, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, praised the efforts of Al-Nahda University in hosting the conference, which comes in strengthening the scientific and academic role of the university. It agrees with the general directions of the state and its efforts to integrate research and scientific thought from different countries of the world, in order to serve Egypt’s Vision 2030, Expressing his hopes that the sessions and discussions will yield fruitful and beneficial results in the service of development issues in Egypt and the African continent.

The Minister also praised the conference, which aims to discuss methodological issues in accounting research towards finding new theories and methods, expressing Egypt’s happiness for hosting the activities of this session and welcoming the participants from all sister African countries.

Ashour stressed that the development and sustainability of competitiveness today is a strategic goal that all institutions seek to achieve, in light of the great challenges facing the economy based on knowledge, pointing out that the repercussions of globalization and internationalization of education imposed on universities the need to improve the quality of their academic activities, and activate the role of scientific research in the fields of education. Accounting to search for new theories and methods that serve the economy.

The Minister also noted the role of the university as one of the most important educational institutions in achieving progress for societies, as well as the critical importance of scientific research in enriching the role of the university as a center for scientific creativity, knowledge development and use to solve the various problems of society.

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Maait, indicated that global economies faced great challenges during the last period due to the conditions of the Corona pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the repercussions of these conditions on the economy of all countries of the world, including Egypt. He pointed to the success of Egyptian economic policies in dealing with these repercussions, achieving an increase in growth rates and reducing the budget deficit, as well as launching a package of social protection programs for the benefit of the Egyptian citizen.

Hossam El-Mallahi, President of Al-Nahda University, stressed that the university’s hosting of this event comes in recognition and activation of its role in participating in the challenges facing society, including economic challenges, as well as Egypt’s leading role in the African continent, Pointing out that this is the first time for the conference to be held in a North African country, specifically in Egypt, as well as the addition of the Arabic language for the first time in the conference’s research in addition to English and French, praising the research and discussions witnessed by the Emerging Researchers Forum hosted by Al-Nahda University, The forum activities also represented an important opportunity to introduce participants from African countries to the Egyptian civilization in Upper Egypt and the city of Beni Suef, in addition to organizing today’s activities in Cairo.

Dr. Marian Rose, President of the organization, expressed her happiness to hold the activities of this session of the conference in Egypt, noting that the organization aims to build the capacities of African academics and students in the fields of education and scientific research, link those interested in teaching accounting and finance, and contribute to promoting innovation in developing countries, and reviewed the results achieved the organization.

During its sessions, the conference discussed several topics, including the impact of robotic and intelligent process technology on the quality of the audit process, an “applied study on the movements registered in the Egyptian Stock Exchange”, and a proposed model for measuring strategic flexibility using accounting information to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.
